The Navy is seeking active-duty sailors with at least two years of service but fewer than 16 who want to transfer to reserve status, under the Early Career Transition Program. Details, as provided in NAVADMIN 088/11, state that eligible sailors would be able to choose a date to transfer to the Selected Reserves before their actual End of Active Obligated Service date. To do so, eligible sailors would have to submit their requested transfer date three to 15 months in advance of their End of Active Obligated Service date. Sailors who choose to move to the Selected Reserve immediately could qualify for a two-year deferment from individual mobilization and an affiliation bonus, and will continue to carry commissary and exchange privileges and take part in Post-9/11 GI Bill education benefits. More information is available on the Navy Personnel Command Web site at www.npc.navy.mil.
