NavAdmin 103/07 requires Navy officers to have a full-length color photograph in their official military file by Sept. 30. The preferred uniform is service khaki without a cover, although any regulation uniform is acceptable. MILPERSMAN 1070-180 outlines the requirements, which include a full-length, head-to-toe display, three-quarter view with the left shoulder forward, on a contrasting, plain, flat background. Printed photo must be four inches wide and six inches high, with a menu or hand-lettered title board placed at or near the left foot, containing the following identifying data in two-inch high letters: last name, first name and middle initial(s); grade, last four digits of the social security number, and designator; and day, month, year photograph was taken.
