Because the suppliers have made the newest Navy Working Uniform (NWU) available to the entire fleet six months ahead of schedule, the Navy now wants all sailors and officers to wear the new uniform ashore by Dec. 31. One exception applies, for sailors who began recruit training between Oct. 1, 2007, and April 26, 2009. Their deadline for wearing the new NWU is June 30, 2013. The uniforms are available at Navy Exchanges. According to NAVADMIN 299/10, the full NWU component includes:

* Four NWU blouses and trousers;

* One pair of NWU boots;

* Two 8-point utility caps;

* Five 100-percent blue cotton t-shirts;

* Five pairs of boot socks;

* One mock turtleneck sweater;

* One fleece liner, and

* One Gore-Tex parka
