Sailors who want to fly may get that chance. The Navy announced criteria for the Active Duty Flying Chief Warrant Officer (CWO) Pilot Program, under which Navy enlisteds in pay grades E-5 through E-7 could apply to become pilots of P-3 Orion, EP-3 Aries, E-6 Mercury, and SH-60B/MH-60S helicopters. Applicants must be commissioned as warrant officers by their 27th birthday, hold at least an associate’s degree, and meet physical and security-clearance requirements. Some sailors above age 27 can apply for a waiver of the age limitation. Those in sea, air, land combat command, special warfare combatant crew member, explosive ordnance disposal, diver, nuclear and master-at-arms communities cannot apply.
