Following its recent victory before the U.S. Supreme Court, the Navy announced plans to develop a plan to monitor how sonar use affects marine mammals, while continuing the present level of sonar training in the same geographic locations. Under the plans, antisubmarine and mine warfare training – which use sonar technology – will not increase in waters off the U.S. eastern seaboard and Gulf of Mexico.
