Eligible sailors who wish to apply for Temporary Early Retirement Authority (TERA) must do so by no later than June 15, the Navy Personnel Command announced May 29. The Navy also eliminated the requirement that ERA retirees must apply for the Public and Community Service Program. Sailors with at least 15 years of active service as of Sept. 1, who were not selected for retention by the 2012 Enlisted Retention Board, and with active duty service dates of Sept. 2, 1997 or earlier, may apply for TERA. Those who are granted early retirement under TERA cannot collect involuntary separation pay, but are still eligible for other transition-assistance benefits associated with enlisted retention board-related separations.
