The Navy plans to convene a senior enlisted retention board in August, to determine which chief, senior chief and master chief petty officers will be retained. The board will consider E-7 through E-9 sailors with at least 19 years of active duty service as of Feb. 28 and three year’s time in rate as of June 30, and Selected Reserve and Voluntary Training Unit sailors in those grades with at least 20 years’ qualifying service as of Feb. 28 and three years’ time in rate as of June 30. The Naval Education and Training Professional Development and Technology Center will publish the names of board-eligible sailors on June 8. Sailors on that list have until June 29 to challenge that eligibility. Those not selected by the board for continuation must transfer to the Fleet Reserve or retire by Sept. 1, 2016, unless they receive a waiver.
