Navy victims of sexual assault now have access to more legal advice, under a new Sexual Assault Prevention and Response plan called the Victims’ Legal Counsel Program. At first, the Navy will deploy 29 specially trained and independent military lawyers throughout the fleet worldwide. They will offer victims legal advice, serve as advocates, and remain outside victims’ chains of command.
