The Army plans to deliver two test camouflage patterns to roughly 2,000 soldiers serving in Afghanistan, beginning the end of September. Soldiers who are issued the “MultiCam” and “Universal Camouflage Pattern” uniforms will test their effectiveness and provide input to Army equipment and protection specialists, who will determine if they should be incorporated among all troops who serve in Afghanistan. The “MultiCam” pattern closely resembles that used in the former Battle Dress Uniform (BDU). The “Universal Camouflage Pattern – Delta” looks more like what soldiers in Afghanistan now wear, but with the addition of the color “Coyote Brown.” If deemed suitable, the patterns would begin appearing on uniforms within six months, the Army stated.
