The Defense Department has entered into a new cooperative agreement with employers, who in turn promise to consider military spouses when hiring. Under the Military Spouse Employment Partnership, 15 companies agreed to increase employment opportunities for spouses, and take into account that frequent moves should not be a bar to employment. The businesses also pledged to offer promotion opportunities and pay equity as well. “If you’re looking for hard-working, highly skilled and educated, dedicated employees, our military spouses are precisely the employees you need," said Jill Biden, wife of Vice President Joe Biden, during a June 29 unveiling event held at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C. Participating businesses also agreed to post job opportunities online at http://www.ourmilitary.mil.
