A newly formed organization of veterans who served in the Global War on Terror is urging lawmakers to enact a more thorough GI Bill education-benefits package. The Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America took out full-page ads in the Washington Post, New York Times and other major newspapers across the country on April 14, which featured photos of two Pennsylvania National Guard members and a caption that stated, "We sent them to war. Why can’t we send them to college?" Both the House and Senate are considering bills that would bolster education benefits. They include a provision that would allow veterans to receive full tuition for the most expensive public schools in their home states. For more information, visit the organization’s Web site at www.IAVA.org.
