The Philadelphia Eagles have signed former Capt. Alejandro Villanueva, who served three deployments as an Army Ranger in Afghanistan, to a contract. Villanueva caught the eye of Eagles scouts during recent regional tryouts. Villanueva, at 6-foot-9 and 277 pounds, played tight end while at West Point. The Eagles plan to switch him to the defensive line. “I’m very blessed and feel very fortunate for this opportunity. I don’t want to disappoint anybody and will work as hard as I can and give it my best shot,” Villanueva said during a May 6 press conference at which the team introduced him. “Everything that I do, when I put on an Eagles uniform, an Army uniform, or a suit and tie, I represent whoever I’m serving.”
