A dispute between Camp Pendleton, Calif., and the union representing civilian federal employees who work on the base is nearing resolution. On March 10, officials at Pendleton and representatives of the National Federation of Federal Employees (NFFE), which represents the 1,200 civilian workers there, agreed to a new contract that streamlines guidelines of a previous work agreement. Under the terms of the agreement, civilian police personnel to belong to the union, and the base agrees to accept responsibility for any violation of the contract. More details will emerge once the contract is finalized, pending approval by Headquarters Marine Corps.
