The Pentagon Memorial, dedicated to the 184 persons who died when terrorist hijackers commandeered American Airlines Flight 77 and crashed it into the building’s southwestern wall, was slated for dedication on Sept. 11 – seven years to the day the attack took place. The memorial, which lies on the grounds outside where the airliner struck the Pentagon, features sites dedicated to each victim of the attack. Visitors will be able to differentiate between those who died in the building itself, and those who were passengers on the airliner. The building was scheduled to open to the public for the first time from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. More information is available on the Web.
