Pentagon: U.S. Attempted To Rescue Journalists

Shortly after terrorists released the gruesome video of the murder of journalist James Foley, the Defense Department confirmed that U.S. troops attempted to rescue a number of such hostages held by the terrorist group that held them. “Unfortunately, the mission was not successful because the hostages were not present tat the targeted location,” Pentagon spokesman Navy Rear Adm. John Kirby said in an Aug. 20 statement. The British government has since identified the British national associated with the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) who killed Foley as Abdel-Majed Abdel Bary, a 24-year-old former rap artist.
