Pilot Ejects Safely

The pilot of a Navy F/A-18E Super Hornet aircraft ejected safely from the plane, which crashed Sept. 21. The plane went down in an unpopulated area near Naval Air Station Lemoore, Calif., where it is based. Neither the pilot nor anyone on the ground was harmed, the Navy stated. There were no immediate reports of property damage. The pilot’s name is being withheld. The Navy declined to provide more details, other than to state that the incident is under investigation.
