The Army Corps of Engineers plans to install a 20-megawatt solar farm at Fort Bliss, Texas, the largest renewable-energy project ever undertaken by the U.S. armed forces. Working in conjunction with nearby El Paso Electric, the Corps plans to bring the solar farm online sometime in 2015. It will provide power for division headquarters and most of the eastern side of the post. Bliss already boasts a 1.4-megawatt solar array, and another 13.4-megawatt solar array that provides power to base housing.
