Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel ordered an overhaul of the Pentagon office that compiles information on prisoners of war and service members who are missing in action. The Defense Department’s policy office has until March 20 to provide Hagel with a new plan, aimed at increasing “to the maximum extent possible the numbers of missing service personnel accounted for annually, while ensuring timely and accurate information is provided their families.” The case file system will be expanded to include veterans who served as long ago as World War II as well.
