When the next Ranger Course begins this spring, female soldiers will be allowed to take part for the first time in history. The service announced Jan. 15 that Army Secretary John McHugh approved participation to women, beginning with the 2015 Ranger Course Assessment that began Jan. 16 at the Army’s National Guard Warrior Training Center. Soldiers who successfully complete the assessment and have the endorsement of their commands can attend the course and try to earn the coveted Ranger tab. While not all soldiers are required to attend and complete the assessment, it is a requirement for all female Ranger candidates.
