The Navy’s heralded merger of the Postal Clerk (PC) and Storekeeper (SK) ratings into the new Logistics Specialist (LS) rating will take effect Oct. 1. Navy personnel officials believe the change will better serve the Navy’s needs, provide affected sailors with a greater array of shore and sea billets, and improve the career path for former postal clerks. Logistics specialists will service under the Naval Supply Systems Command, which oversees supply operations, conventional ordnance, contracting, resale, fuel, transportation, and security assistance. The command also maintains food and postal services, Navy Exchanges, and the movement of household goods during permanent-change-of-station and other moves.
