The Defense Department will reap benefits of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to the tune of nearly $7.4 billion. Among the DoD projects to be funded under the measure:
* Infrastructure and energy-related improvements, $3.8 billion;
* Military construction, $2.1 billion (including $1.3 billion for hospitals);
* Repair, renovation, and energy-related improvements for medical treatment facilities, $400 million;
* Family and troop housing, $100 million;
* Assistance for homeowners who must sell their property at a loss, $600 million;
* Development of near-term energy efficiencies, $300 million
* The Energy Conservation Investment Program, $100 million.
