Recruiting for the Defense Department’s four service branches largely held steady for the 12-month period beginning last Oct. 1 and extending through July, with two exceptions. While the Air Force Reserve exceeded projections with 6307 accessions, while the Army Reserve’s 21,681 accessions fell short. The active Army (56,437 accessions), Army National Guard (41,539 accessions), and Marine Corps Reserve (8,050 accessions) each slightly exceeded projected goals. The active Navy (32,692 accessions), active Marine Corps (24,969 accessions), active Air Force (21,969 accessions), Navy Reserve (4,667 accessions), and Air National Guard (8,605 accessions) all met projected goals.
