Each active and reserve-component branch of the armed services either met or exceeded its recruiting goals for the fiscal year that began Oct. 1, except the Army Reserve, which fell slightly short, with 6,450 new accessions. The active Navy (7,782 accessions), active Marine Corps (6,073 accessions), active Air Force (6,516 accessions), Navy Reserve (1,281 accessions), Air National Guard (2,170 accessions), and Air Force Reserve (1,872 accessions) all met their goals. The active Army (12,396 accessions), Army National Guard (12,412 accessions), and Marine Corps Reserve (2,359 accessions) exceeded their goals.
