Recruiting and retention for each of the Defense Department’s active and reserve components largely held steady for the period that began last Oct. 1 and extended through the end of January. The active Army (20,273 accessions), Navy (10,990 accessions), Air Force (9,589 accessions), and Marine Corps (9,244 accessions) all met their goals. The Navy Reserve (1,787 accessions), Air National Guard (3,063 accessions), and Air Force Reserve (2,513 accessions) also met their goals. The Army National Guard (17,100 accessions) and Marine Corps Reserve (3,270 accessions) exceeded their goals. Only the Army Reserve (8,518 accessions) fell slightly short.
