Three Army Reserve units mobilized to provide water for victims of Hurricane Sandy, marking the first such mobilization for domestic natural disaster since the 2012 defense authorization bill simplified the process. The three units – the 401st, 410th, and 431st Quartermaster Teams, are based in Lock Haven, Pa., Gainesville, Fla., and Kinston, N.C., respectively, used Joint Base Dix/McGuire/Lakehurst, N.J., as a base for their relief operations.
