Participation at the Army’s two primary training centers will be split 50-50 between active and reserve components, the commander of Army Forces Command (FORSCOM) said Oct. 13. “We [won’t] go back to 90 percent active, 10 percent Guard and Reserve” rotations to Fort Irwin, Calif., and Fort Polk, La., Gen. Mark Milley said, addressing an audience at the 2014 Association of the U.S. Army annual meeting and exposition in Washington. Milley also said that the active and reserve components would interact with each other more frequently, particularly before training rotations or deployments, in order to foster better familiarity. Reserve components now comprise more than 50 percent of the total force.
