Navy combatant commanders are carrying around staffs that are too large, a retired admiral contends. “We must reduce the size of the elephant,” retired Adm. William J. “Fox” Fallon told an audience at a March 14 seminar held by the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, according to Seapower Magazine. Fallon is former commander of U.S. Pacific Command and U.S. Central Command. Rather, Fallon said, staffs should be large enough only to conform to particular regional needs.
