The top Navy admiral believes the service’s future lies in forging partnerships with allies, other government agencies, and its fellow armed services. “There’s strength in partnerships and we will lose big time if we don’t think that way,” Adm. John Richardson, the chief of Naval Operations, told an audience during a May 17 speech before the Navy League of the United States Sea-Air-Space Exposition in Oxon Hill, Md. Such arrangements will enable the Navy to cope with budget cuts and remain effective, Richardson said. He also urged members of industry to help the Navy move forward with unmanned-systems projects, which also would help manage cost-related issues.
