The Missile Defense Agency successfully tested a new two-stage rocket motor at China Lake Naval Warfare Center, Calif., on Jan. 23. The apparatus will likely someday join the inventory of systems used in tests to simulate the types of long-range missiles potential enemies such as North Korea or Iran would use in an attack. More such tests of the vehicle, called the LV-2, will take place before it makes its first flight sometime in late spring or early summer.
