Ronda Rousey, the erstwhile UFC women’s bantamweight champion, kept her word and attended the Marine Corps Ball with Lance Cpl. Jarrod Haschert at Camp Lejeune, N.C., Dec. 11. Haschert began his quest for the celebrity date on Aug. 22, when he asked Rousey in a short video to join him. USA Today reported the date almost did not happen, because of a scheduling conflict with her bout with Holly Holm. The fight at first was scheduled for December, but was moved back. She subsequently lost to Holm. “I promised I would go. It’s an honor to be asked,” she told the TV tabloid program TMZ.
