Navy SEAL teams conducted two separate operations during the first weekend in October – in Libya and Somalia – taking one suspected terrorist leader into custody. According to media reports, Abu Anas al Libi remains in U.S. hands and is undergoing interrogation on a Navy ship. He was captured during the Libya operation. The Somalia operation fell short of capturing Abdikadir Mohamed Abdikadir, the Kenyan who is believed to have played key roles in the 1998 bombing of the U.S. embassy in Nairobi, Kenya, 2002 attacks on a hotel and airline in Mombassa, Kenya. According to news reports, the SEALs halted the operation out of concern for the safety of women and children in the area where the Kenyan – known as Ikrima – was said to be hiding.
