The Senate version of the 2016 Defense Authorization Bill, which cleared the armed-services committee May 19, calls for $355 million to restore full funding for the A-10 Thunderbolt II close-air-support aircraft. Air Force leadership has been trying to retire the plane. Other air-power related provisions would:

* Restore the EC-130 Compass Call electronic warfare aircraft ($75 million).
* Procure 12 more FA-18E/F Super Hornet aircraft ($1.2 billion), and upgrade jamming protection for those and E/A-18G aircraft ($170 million.)
* Procure six more F-35B Joint Strike Fighter aircraft ($1 billion).
* Upgrade F-15 Eagle fighter planes for high-end conflicts.
