Some sailors who possess skills that are needed at sea will see their shore duty curtailed. In a July 26 announcement, the Navy outlined plans to place between 200 and 400 sailors with these skills back in fleet billets, to fill manpower gaps. Sailors in these fields who have finished at least 24 months on shore duty could expect a call from their detailers, with directions to move to sea-duty assignments at their next projected rotation date. Those who have been ashore longest will be tapped first. More information is available on the Navy Personnel Command’s Web site, www.npc.navy.mil. See NAVADMIN 227/12.
