Visitors to the National Museum of the Air Force at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, will get a firsthand and up-close look at the workings of NASA’s venerable space shuttle program. The museum’s new Space Shuttle Exhibit, scheduled to open Feb. 26, provides a glimpse of the shuttle orbiter’s payload pay, flight deck, and mid-deck levels. It also includes two shuttle flight simulators, with which visitors can test their ability to land the orbiter safely. In time, the exhibit will expand to include space suits and other artifacts, as well as interpretive displays about astronauts, space science, living in space, and the Air Force’s role in space.
