The U.S. signed an agreement Sept. 23 with Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom that would set the groundwork for future defense operations in space. The memorandum of understanding outlines common deterrence, resilience and resource-related goals, and recognizes space as a critical environment for military and commercial activities. The agreement is key to “understanding the current and future space environment, an awareness of space capability to support global operations, and a military-to-military relationship to address challenges,” Adm. Cecil D. Haney, chief of U.S. Strategic Command, said.
