Stimulus Bill To Help Military Homeowners

President Obama’s stimulus bill contains several items aimed at helping service members and veterans. A key provision authorizes the Defense Department to buy service members’ homes or reimburse them in the event of foreclosure. According to the National Association for Uniformed Services, the measure would primarily help those who receive permanent-change-of-station orders on short notice, and who are wounded and must move to be near medical treatment facilities, as well as spouses of service members who are killed in action.
