The Navy has relieved Capt. Dave Adams of command of the guided missile submarine Georgia. The Navy announced Jan. 4 that Adams was relieved of command, because of an incident that occurred in November in which Georgia struck a channel buoy while heading back to port at Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base, Ga. The vessel sustained roughly $1 million in damages. Adams was reassigned to other duty within Submarine Group 10 at Kings Bay, RT reported. Meanwhile, an investigation into the mishap is ongoing.
