Submarine Washington Christened

The Navy christened the USS Washington, the newest of the Virginia-class Block III submarines, during a March 5 ceremony at Newport News Shipbuilding in Virginia. Washington (SSN 787) is capable of launching Tomahawk cruise missiles, and can conduct anti-submarine, anti-ship, special-operations forces delivery, mine delivery, minefield mapping and surveillance missions in deep or shallow waters.
