Some military retirees already may have received their retiree account statements. The Internal Revenue Service began distributing the documents to retirees electronically via myPay on Dec. 5. Retirees are the first customers of the Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) to receive documents they will need in order to prepare their 2013 federal income tax returns. Under the schedule DFAS released Dec. 3, most of the agency’s customers will receive their tax statements by mail between mid-December and the end of January. Customers who use myPay in most cases will gain access to their forms earlier online. More information is available online at www.dfas.mil.
