Train Hero To Receive Purple Heart

Airman 1st Class Spencer Stone, who helped disarm a terrorist and foil a potentially deadly attack on a Paris-bound train last month, will receive the Purple Heart medal, Air Force Times reported Sept. 14. Stone sustained significant injuries when the assailant slashed him with a box cutter. Stone also will receive the Airman’s Medal. Stone gave his first account to U.S. media during a Sept. 8 appearance on the Jimmy Kimmel Show. After Stone recounted the incident, Kimmel had Klay Thompson, a guard with the NBA champion Golden State Warriors, present the airman with keys to a new Chevy Camaro. The Warriors are Stone’s favorite team.
