TriWest Healthcare Alliance Corp., an Arizona-based contractor to TRICARE, has settled a $10 million lawsuit that accused the company of failing to pass cost savings along to the agency between 2004 and 2010. According to the Justice Department, the company’s alleged illegal activity became public after four former employees sued the company under the False Claims Act, which protects whistleblowers from repercussions for their actions. The former employees will divide $1.7 million, a portion of the share of the money the government recovered by thwarting the wrongdoing.
