Service members who are concerned about facing discharge because they do not meet weight and body-fat standards increasingly are seeking liposuction, according to an Oct. 28 report by the Associated Press. The story cites numerous doctors who specialize in the procedure, who said they have seen an increase in the number of military patients who seek their help. Although military members receive free health care, liposuction is not covered unless deemed medically necessary. As such, many military liposuction patients are paying for the procedure out of pocket.
