Soldiers and their families who have questions about eligibility for Traumatic Servicemembers’ Group Life Insurance (TSGLI) can now find answers from experts posted at 10 military treatment facilities across the country. The experts, called Soldier Family Support Specialists, provide help with claims forms, medical documentation assistance, payment information and other issues. They are physically located at at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C.; Brooke Army Medical Center at Fort Sam Houston, Texas; Beaumont Army Medical Center at Fort Bliss, Texas; Darnall Army Hospital at Fort Hood, Texas; Womack Army Medical Center at Fort Bragg, N.C.; Schofield Army Medical Center at Schofield Barracks, Hawaii; Blanchfield Army Community Hospital Fort Campbell, Ky.; Guthrie Ambulatory Army Medical Center at Fort Drum, N.Y.; Madigan Army Medical Center at Fort Lewis, Wash.; and Eisenhower Army Medical Center at Fort Gordon, Ga. But they can provide services to beneficiaries at other facilities, and the Army is looking at expanding their presence. Any service member who elects Servicemembers’ Group Life Insurance (SGLI) is automatically covered by TSGLI, which provides benefits for persons who have sustained traumatic injuries between Oct. 7, 2001, and Dec. 1, 2005, in support of operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom.
