The United States and Australia plan to invite China to take part in future war-games exercises, the Voice of America reported Sept. 3. The gesture will hopefully stave off any aggressive intentions China may have in the Asia-Pacific region, foster goodwill, and provide a clear look at Chinese capabilities, Navy Adm. Timothy Keating, the commander of U.S. Pacific Command, told reporters. While no details of the joint training plans have emerged, VOA said they could include "naval and land activities as well [as] personnel exchanges."
