Units Tapped for Afghanistan Rotation

The Defense Department has notified two Marine Corps units that they will deploy to Afghanistan sometime early this year: Headquarters, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward), consisting of 500 Marines and sailors; and Regimental Combat Team-8, consisting of roughly 5,000 Marines and sailors. Both units are based at Camp Lejeune, N.C.
