The Department of Veterans Affairs is moving toward a completely paperless claims-processing system, as part of the continuing effort to get a handle on the huge backlog of pending benefits claims. By the end of 2012, 18 VA regional offices have adopted the new system, which involves completely electronic collection, storage, tracking and routing of claims. VA hopes to process claims in 125 days with 98-percent accuracy by the end of 2015.
