The nation’s roughly 120,000 homeless and at-risk veterans and their families would stand to benefit, under $300 million in grants unveiled by the Department of Veterans Affairs July 11. The grant money would be distributed to 319 community-based non-profit organizations across the country and in Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. Funds could be used to help low-income veterans and their families who now live in or plan to move into permanent housing. Additionally, help will be available for veterans who face homelessness or recently became homeless.
