VA-DoD Record-Sharing Could Improve

The Defense Department would be able to release medical information to the Department of Veterans Affairs, under a provision of the Senate version of the 2011 defense bill, which cleared the Armed Services Committee on May 28 and is awaiting action by the full Senate. If the measure survives reconciliation with the House and is signed by President Obama, military members with service-related health issues should find the transition to the VA health care system from DoD’s much easier.
