Erik Shinseki, the retired Army general who now serves as Secretary of Veterans Affairs, has written an open letter to veterans voicing his commitment to ensuring that they receive the benefits and treatment they earned in a timely manner. Shinseki promised a comprehensive review of all VA activities in the March 13 letter, which was posted on the VA’s Web site. "We know that results count, that the department will be measured by what we do, not what we promise," Shinseki wrote. "You and your needs are not irrelevant."
