Veterans no longer will have to complete an annual Eligibility Verification Report (EVR) in order to ensure they continue to receive their VA pension benefits. The Department of Veterans Affairs announced the change Dec. 20, as part of its continuing effort to come to grips with the backlog of unresolved compensation claims. The agency now will verify pension-benefits eligibility by crosschecking veterans’ VA records against those held by the Internal Revenue Service and the Social Security Administration.
